New Moon Greetings and Witches New Year (October 31),
The first time I was called a witch was twenty years ago. It was a silly moment but had resonance. I was helping out on my family’s organic blueberry farm and, at the time, making a tomato sauce (I love tomatoes and have a bunch of recipes). My brother suggested we name it Witch’s Brew. When I asked him why, he just said, “Duh,” and pointed at me.
Over the years, different people have called me a witch, though for a long time, I wasn’t sure what that really meant. But as I’ve grown older and looked back along the arc of my life, I’ve started to see the signs: the traits, the moments, my grandmother’s quiet guidance, and the threads of ancestral lineage that shape how I now relate to witch as an identity.
I spoke more about this in an interview with Rise Up! Good Witch podcast, where I share what this path has come to mean for me. You can listen to it Here
And, special thanks to Lily and Tristan, all the event planner organizers, vendors and folks who came out to Carrefour, what a great day and unique space. I am inspired and grateful by this community.
Now, on to the month...
Musical Choice- Uriel’s Garden Cloud Sanctuary
This months music is a remix of Uriel’s Garden Sanctuary from release, Book of Echoes featuring Adrienne Davies/Earth on drums. Book of Echoes is the first album where I infused moon cycles and musical keys to fully embody each song. I love going back and reworking music from this body of work, as it was an artistic turning point for me.

Wandering Tale- Witchy Recommendations
And I thought to round this month out, here is a list of resources that I have found helpful recently. While witchcraft is a broad subject with a vast history across many cultures, these suggestions focus on modern Western witchcraft, as that is part of my current practice. If you have any ideas, please send them over.
Ritualcravt is a beautiful online and brick-and-mortar shop just outside Denver, with in house created incenses, candles and potions in various traditions by witches for witches. (not sponsored by them, tho that would be cool ;).
Tarot decks- The Light Seer’s Deck is a deck full of thoughtful imagery and attuned to an emotional perspective. If you are looking for a deck with strong ‘yes or no’ energy, the Dark Exact deck is powerful and no bullshit.
Seer and Healer, Cheyanne Dise, “Seeress MuggaRose” Evidential Medium is a true visionary and seer. And is also an amazing visual artist and has created many music videos and photos for me over the years.
Dream Alchemy Beauty is by Estella, whose roots are in the wise woman tradition. Self-identifying as a hag and green witch who creates beauty rituals, Feminine Rites, and oracle Readings.
A slew of book recommendations, some I have read and some are on my current to-read list; Polish Folk Magic by Joanna Tarnawska, The Moon Book by Sarah Faith Gottesdiener, The Altar Within by Juliet Diaz, Secrets of Romani Fortune-Telling by Paulina Stevens, and Jezmina Von Thiele.
Until the next new moon,
KF
