New Moon Greetings,
Thanks to all those who came out to Teatro show. I don’t perform in Seattle very often and it is great to see folks. Special thanks to Vanessa and Richard for holding space in such a special venue whose DIY ethos have lasted over a decade.
And magical thanks to all of you who have caught, Falling Tree Story. I am officially SOLD OUT of the grey copies and have a few of the black vinyl left. Those are available HERE and will have copies available at Mississippi Records Show.

Music Lessons- Guitar, Piano, and Songwriting
I am opening my books this fall to new music students, and if you’ve been craving a creative outlet, or a fresh start with your instrument, this might be the moment. With 18+ years of experience, I teach guitar, piano and songwriting. I shape every lesson around you-your goals, your pace, and your unique musical voice. My approach blends solid musicianship with curiosity, and creativity. I’ve supported students ages 4 to 75 in discovering (or rediscovering!) the joy of making music. For more information and connecting, reach out HERE.
Musical Choice- Teatro Show
This months musical choice is a video snippet of a new song, I have been working on, untitled (so far). I played it for the first time at the Teatro Show.
Wandering Tale- Familiar and Unfamiliar Terrain
Visual artist and friend Joseph Patrick Gray once shared a profound moment with me, one that emerged from the mundane. During his senior year of college, he was working on a project in a shared studio when a artistic peer casually walked by and commented, “You’re still working with evergreen trees?”
The comment caught Joe off guard. He hadn’t realized until that moment that evergreen trees had been a recurring theme in his work for years. It was one of those moments when you’re so deep in your process, so immersed in the doing, that you miss the patterns forming within it.
A couple of years ago, I was invited to play a special show on October 31, in Portland called Hekate’s Crossing, curated by visual and textile artist Sigurd Persson. The invitation itself stayed with me, Sigurd hadn’t seen me perform before, but she said she knew of me from the PNW community, and felt that my music embodied feminine energy (a humbling complement). At one point during the event, she asked me, “What’s your larger plan?” and explained that in her Swedish culture, “It is never about the ‘I’ only the ‘We.’” At the time, I laughed it off, overwhelmed by the question. But two years later, that question and her words continue to echo.
Both moments, Joe’s realization about his evergreens and Sigurd’s question about the “we” remind me how often meaning reveals itself quietly, over time. As a performer, I’ve come to see that music, is shaped by resonance, and relationship. Whether through the steady return of a theme or a single question that lingers, creation is never solitary. Each performance, each collaboration, becomes part of a larger dialogue. One that reminds me that art is a shared rhythm between myself, the audience, and the world around.
Until the next new moon,
KF
